Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist you build data products and extract valuable business insights from large amounts of data. You must be highly analytical, with a knack for statistics, code, critical thinking and an aptitude for research. You will identify, investigate and solve complex problems independently, with the goal to analyze company trends, build predictions and increase efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Systemise the collection of unstructured data and its transformation into queryable dataset via wrangling, cleansing and verification techniques
  • Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
  • Enrich datasets with third-party data where possible and/or necessary
  • Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis
  • Own data projects, leading the development of data science and machine learning projects
  • Optimise data storage and processing architecture, ensuring it is fit-for-purpose for requirements
  • Collaborate with product management and technology/development teams to understand company needs and devise possible solutions
  • Influence and collaborate with development, engineering and product development teams to implement tools, features and/or designs

Knowledge and experience

  • Proficient in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting / predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimisation algorithms
  • Proficient in SQL, Python or r, with proficiency with other programming languages (SAS, Java etc.) being beneficial
  • Proficient with agile development methodologies
  • Proficient with Linux/Unix based systems
  • Proficient with Big Data Processing technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
  • Proficient with data warehouse solutions (Redshift)
  • Proficient with Git (Bitbucket, GitHub)
  • Proficient in English language
  • Experience with the latest technologies: Storm, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Kafka, HBase, ElasticSearch
  • Experience using business intelligence tools
  • Experience of leading transformational data projects
  • Knowledge of SQL, RDBMS, object oriented and SML DBMS fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Redis, RabbitMQ, Jenkins
  • Knowledge of machine learning theory and application, with demonstrable experience of application in previous roles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible for travel based on project needs


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in applied Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics or another quantitative field
  • 2 years of professional experience in quantitative analysis, specific experience with social games or mobile apps
